Dr Charmaine Chung (Lim)

Ophthalmic Surgeon and Medical Retina Specialist

 

Dr Charmaine Chung is an ophthalmic surgeon with a particular interest in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular diseases. As a research investigator and clinician, she has authored and reviewed research publications and is involved in the recruitment and active management of patients for multi-centre international trials looking at new treatments for these diseases.

 

She has been a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College since 2010 and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retina Specialists.

 

Dr Chung graduated from medical school with First Class Honours (University of Sydney) and furthered her studies with a Masters of Public Health, graduating with Honours.

 

Her general ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital included rotations through metropolitan, outer Sydney and regional hospitals providing a broad range of experience in managing complex ophthalmic diseases in both local and migrant populations.

 

Her Medical Retina Fellowship at Westmead Public Hospital provided extensive practical experience in retinal laser and in providing comfortable eye injections to patients on a regular, ongoing basis.

 

Dr Chung is committed to individualized patient care and their collaborative management with general practitioners, optometrists and other medical specialists.

 

She is fluent in English and French.

She provides services at Mosman Eye Centre, Strathfield Retina and Mona Vale Eye Centre. She operates at Pittwater Day Surgery
